The only reason for mastering technique is to make sure the body does not prevent the soul from expressing itself. ~ La Meri

Meet Dr. Parker

I have loved playing the piano since age seven and have taught piano in Eugene, Oregon since 1993. My Master’s and doctoral piano performance degrees were earned at the University of Texas at Austin, where I was voted Outstanding Pre-Collegiate Teacher by the Austin chapter of the Music Teachers National Association. I often perform solo and ensemble music and have taught group piano and private lessons at Lane Community College. Several of my former students are now professional musicians and many more enjoy music as a continuing avocation. Although my training is founded in classical music, I also enjoy teaching popular music and improvisation.

Piano Teaching

I welcome students of all ages and levels. We create an individualized curriculum based on personal needs and interests. This includes: technique, sight-reading, improvisation, solo and ensemble music in a variety of styles. Music is meant to be enjoyed for a lifetime, and its rewards are limitless!
